LISUN goniophotometer for LED CIE C-γ test
The CIE C-γ test is a technique for assessing the color performance of illumination sources in accordance with the criteria established by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE). It is also known as the CIE Color General Photometry Test. The test determines whether or not a light source is capable of rendering colors in the same way as the human eye does—that is, appropriately and accurately.
The chromaticity
coordinates of the light source that is being examined are compared to those of
a reference light source that has a chromaticity that is already known.
Examples of such reference light sources are a black body radiator and a
daylight source. The color rendering index (CRI) of the light source may be
determined by taking the difference between the two sets of chromaticity
coordinates into consideration.
The color rendering
index, or CRI, is a numerical measurement that may vary from 0 to 100;
generally speaking, higher values indicate improved color rendering ability.
Lighting sources with a low CRI may not be acceptable for applications that
need accurate color rendering since the CIE standards prescribe the minimum
criteria for CRI for various lighting applications.
Lighting experts and
manufacturers are able to collect data that is accurate and dependable
regarding the color performance of lighting sources by employing the CIE C-γ test. This information may be
used to make educated judgments regarding the appropriateness of various light
sources for a variety of lighting applications and to verify that these light
sources fulfill the performance criteria set by the CIE standards.
The CIE C- γ test may be carried out with
the assistance of a goniophotometer by determining the color rendering
index (CRI) of the light source being evaluated. The color rendering index
(CRI) is a quantitative measurement of the capacity of a light source to
appropriately reproduce colors in comparison to a reference light source with a
known CRI value. This reference light source might be a black body radiator or
a daylight source.
