The photometric performance of LED lights may be measured with the use of a device known as an LED lamp goniophotometer that has been built to fulfill the requirements of the IEC/EN standard. Standards for photometric measurements of LED lighting products are provided by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as well as the European standardizing authority (EN). A goniophotometer is a specialized device that measures the amount of luminous intensity emitted by a light source from a variety of angles. LED lamp goniophotometers work by rotating the LED lamp while simultaneously measuring the quantity of light emitted in a number of different directions. This information is used to build a photometric distribution pattern, which gives a representation of the light output of the LED lamp across a broad range of angles.
